I'll gladly eat crow

Postby LA_Mustang » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:57 am

I didn't think McD could make his reads quick enough to handle the TCU defense but he did a very good job yesterday. I have to give the O-line a lot of the credit too but McD got it done when I didn't think he had it in him.

The INT was really bad but otherwise, he didn't do anything to get us beat.

I won't blast you for saying that. He definitely has room to improve.

But as you pointed out, he didn't make any real mistakes - even the INT was practically a punt, and I'm not smart enough to know if it was his mistake or the receivers. Haven't we sat here time and again crying over the mistakes our QB's have made that have cost us games? Hopefully its' good-bye to those!! If he can just get a little more accurate on the deep ball he will be a flat out stud for this offense.

And did you see him pull it down and run it in overtime? JJ, do that a little more! Once or twice during a game will help out tremendously!

I'll likely get blasted for saying this, but I don't think McD had a great game. If not for some pretty acrobatic catches by DJ, the mood could be very different today. McD just didn't make a lot of mistakes, which allowed a deep SMU team to compete.

He only completed 51 percent of his passes, missed on a lot of deep balls and wasn't efficient on 3rd down passes after the 1st quarter. He stepped up big at times but he has plenty to work on.

McD has only started 3-4 games. I think he has progressed - far from perfect but at least equal to KP's 3-4 start. He will obviously have to get better if we are going to win CUSA.

GO PONIES!!!
