Ja'GARED DAVIS: False alarm

Postby PonyPride » Wed Oct 05, 2011 1:36 am

Already-nervous PonyFans became even more nervous in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 40-33 win over TCU when junior linebacker Ja'Gared Davis lay motionless on the field. As it turns out, his injury was a pulled hamstring, and he expects to be ready to play when SMU hosts UCF next week. Davis visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his injury, the game against the Horned Frogs and the post-game scene that had the biggest impact on him.

Enjoy!

I don't think this is good news at all. Pulled hamstrings typically take 4-6 weeks to recover from. I am not sure about strains, but hammy's are tricky to recover from.

Ready to play is good news to me. That's a lot better than what I feared.

except that, 4 days after the injury, he is saying he is at 75%. so, it doesn't seem like it's the severe variety of hammys. just my take on it.

great write-up. thanks.

The most severe hamstring pulls take that long. For grade 2 hamstring, it is usually 2 weeks of rest and then you are ready to go in three. If he is 75% after two days, it is definately just a strain, which I can easily see him playing the UCF game.

They have such great medical stimulation techniques these days and hammies can be healed quicker than I remember. But they can linger though and can painfully come back when you least expect it..we need him FULL strength.

And laser. Cuts healing time up to 1/3

I hope so - most hamstrings for pro players take 3-4 weeks. Beltre took forever...
Hopefully it's just a strain rather than a pull or tear

Davis was one of several Mustangs wearing an electronic stimulation machine while watching practice.
