According to orangebloods message boards, he is heading to the hilltop very soon.
"105.3 FM The Fan in Dallas reported that GG was at SMU practice this morning and will transfer there upon receiving release."

Garrett Gilbert is one class guy. Terrific person. Nice as they come. But he was a big bust. He's still one of best HS QBs I ever saw.

I think he would do alright here. The most pressure you can have is being the Texas Quarterback. SMU might do him some good.

Kid has some talent Maybe he could do well but I wouldn't expect anything out of him. Hope it doesn't scare off a certain QB recruit

My UT friends always say GG got kind of screwed. Bad situation. OC basically gave GG one and two read plays and GG just started to get lazy and eye bang every receiver and once teams figured this out it was too late, hence his quick downfall.
Each one says he could have been much much better had he been properly developed. They all agree he simply needs a fresh start.

That makes so much sense as the kid played at such a high level in HS, and doesn't make sense that he didn't play so well at UT..Coach Morrison would love this kid and would turn him around.

What would Gilbert coming to SMU have to do with padron? They will never compete with each other for playing time.

He was great in the national title game. Given the right grooming, he could be good. I welcome this, more options the better. No one here should really be against this.

ehh I was at the game, he was great for 2td passes and gave Texas fans hope of what could be. But at the same time he was 15 of 40.
