About as much of a chance for that as us going to the SEC. They can't even bring 300 to those games

is this some sort of counter threat by the Big 12 to the idea/rumor of the SEC even considering inviting another Texas team like SMU? might be, but while the SEC can afford to take a flyer on a 14th member, the Big 12 is not in that position. They have to add strength. Tulane? No way.

Tons of seats at the Superdome for Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee fans

If Tulane makes it into the Big 12, It will solidify the thought in my mind that we will end up in a BCS conference. There is no reason to take Tulane other than their location. Our location is even better. So by that line of thought, it is just a matter of time before BCS comes to get us.

I have sympathy for Tulane and would not begrudge them if they found a way to the Big XII or another BCS conference. I feel the same for Rice. Small privates deserve a place at the AQ table.
We will need to find another seat at another table.

The Big XII is fine on the field and the court. The Big XII is desparate to add markets, though, and if Mizzou leaves they will absolutely starving. They're not the Big East - they can affored take a dud on the field if they bring a solid TV market, and frankly, Tulane has put even less into it's programs than Rice. Tulane could be VERY competive if they ever WOKE THE HEll up.
Tulane was the school I would have gone to if it hadn't been SMU. I like them, and they make sense for them in some very tangible ways. If we don't get that spot, I would pull for them.

Markets are worthless if no one cares about the team. By that logic we should be in the SEC BIG TEN Or pac 12 or ACC.

If it's just about markets why isn't big12 after SDSU?

Exactly...and Tulane doesn't even have the alumni base in Nola that we do in DFW. They take so many out of state students who move other places after graduation

Rice is a better choice than Tulane. That is the craziest thing I have ever read concerning conference expansion. If Tulane gets in the Big !2, than SMU is going to the SEC.

Huh - who says they aren't?
THE BIG XII NEEDS MARKETS. Haven't you learned money talks? The primary reason NU left is because the BIG 10 offered them TEN MILLION MORE A YEAR than the Big XII, and that was based mainly on TV contracts. Forget UT's arrogance - they would have smiled and dealt with it if they were offered that same difference by the Big XII.
If Mizzou leaves they are going to have their TV contracts GUTTED - it's already going to be bad. There is a reason Tulane and other insignificants are getting a look.

If there is ANY truth to this, than we can throw out our claims to have DFW - period. We will never be bigger than 4th or 5th in Dallas in the sports page, and I know this for fact.
