...Whether or not SMU has a scholarship for him and medical redshirt.

The odds are in his favor to get the med redshirt but they are not sure.

other schools: Cal (his dad played there), Clemson, Houston, & SMU

So SMU and SMU? Sounds like one of them might have a shot.

DMN states since Gilbert played less than 20% of games this season he is eligible for a medical red shirt

talking Zach Line, he is probably 80-85% healthy and still doing what he is doing

he is resilient...fights against all odds

Well DMN doesn't always know what they are talking about. It used to be 20%, it is now 30% and has been for a little while but he should still be eligible nonetheless.

there is no dispute he can get a medical redshirt for this year-he definitely will have 2 years to play if he stayed at UT or went Division 1AA. The issue is whether he has one year or 2 AFTER sitting out next year which he has to do at a Division 1A school.

ok, so why doesn't that apply to padron for this year?

because he's played in the A&M game and the NELa Game and has no injury. Padron could have redshirted this year if he didn't play in those games

so what's gilbert's injury? those two games dont make 20%. i'm just saying, not all injuries are 100% documentable. a broken bone, yes - x-ray. a high ankle sprain? expert opinion. right?

If Gilbert goes pony and gets 2 years, what happens to Padron? I still think Padron is way better than McD. I hope McD gets benched soon. Getting nervous against A&M and throwing two picks is cause to bench him for the game. Benching him for the whole season is wrong. Most all of McD's passes have to be dived for.... Also, lose the beard.

i'm not saying he should, but he COULD. right? and the deal w/ Case Keenum came down to 20% of plays, not games, didn't it?

You have to provide documentation for the injuries. Gilbert's injury is his shoulder. He has hurt it previously. I will say that the first thing I thought when I heard about Gilbert's injury is that I thought Mack was trying to do him a solid and preserve a year of his eligibility. It is 30% of play but it also has to do with when those play happen. If Padron could document an injury that prevented him from playing he should be able to get a waiver but there is no injury to document.
