seems like they will think they have DFW covered. I think our best shots are elsewhere.

If they surprise it doesn't include us.

USA Today was correct about TCU this morning so I bet they are right about Louisville

I don't see how Big12 is in play for us anymore (if it ever was). The only way I can fathom Big12 interest is if the other three big conferences ratchet up to 16 teams and Big12 is scrambling to fill in. Even then, it only becomes possible if SEC is showing interest in us and Big 12 wants to fortify DFW.

Big12 invited TCU and I doubt we will ever be a possibility now until the next big shift in a few years occurs. If the Big East can be salvaged and remain BCS status, I think that is the best opportunity. We are still a young team in building back to prominence. The Big East is an easier path to high win seasons and BCS bowls. It is the step up we need. I know we beat TCU last week and this week is an off week so everyone is going stir crazy, but a gradual step up is probably best. Conferences are not set in stone. In a few years when contracts reset, there should be a chance for SMU to move as long as the major conferences aren't all topped out at 16. Will TCU even have fans once they stop producing high win seasons? Will the Big12 even exist after the next TV schedule? These are lower value teams replacing higher value teams. TCU+Loui+(etc) !=Nebraska+TAMU+Colorado. UT will go see what they are going to make next go around on TV and either make a mad grab for all of the money or bolt with their pod to the PAC12. Rome was not built in a day. SMU will rise up.
