The comments say CIN, LOU and WVU have "turned down" the Big 12... no indication that the comments are credible.

In light of TCUâ€™s apparent move to the Big 12 Conference, Big East officials are moving quickly to try to shore up its remaining six football schools with indications that the league will invite East Carolina and Central Florida to join the league, perhaps as early as Friday. Both have been mentioned as possible Big East expansion candidates along with Navy, Air Force and Temple.

That's cause they know our SEC invite is in the mail. The Big East doesn't want the shame of us turning them down.

We aren't worth much to the Big East without TCU.

We are worth access to a huge TV market and gigantic recruiting field to both the Big East and the Big X+II regardless of TCU. And of the TX teams, SMU is the highest revenue earner (2009) of the non AQ or BSC bowl teams. Financially, we may be in better shape to move up (and already invested in facilities) than others. Our attendance is growing as is our national exposure. Our mission for years has been to find the jack-@$$ in a herd of unicorns but for once we do have some positives moving forward.

Not saying we get an invite to any AQ confeernce but we do have something to sell and bring to the table.

I think it's safe to say our little flirt with the lil12 is over. Time to move on - it's behind us. Good riddance. Let it go!!!! It was a long long shot anyways.

Right now, IMHO, the C-USA - MWC 'merger' has the best opportunities to explore & could in fact be one of the best conferences out there given time & hard work.
