tcu gives the big 12 a presence in the dfw market in case the sec adds smu.
adding tcu keeps the big east out of dfw-they hope.

i thought i would write this since i haven't seen it written anywhere else.

sorry if this has already been posted.

Actually, the Big 12 just misses Mangino. Figured Fatterson was as good a replacement as they could get.

The Sunbelt and Southland conference has a presence too.

all valid arguments.

the big 12 greatly fears the sec in dallas.
this is why they are floating tulane of all schools. they want to scare the sec into thinking this is a real possibilty if smu goes to the sec.
their little game of chicken is obvious to even the most casual of observers.

It pretty much finishes off the Big East's hopes of maintaining AQ status.

There will not be a BCS AQ conference that has only 6 teams when the contract is renewed. Will. Not. Happen.

I must be an idiot because I didn't notice this game of chicken.

i'd love for SMU to be a pawn in that game of chess.

One could make the argument that, with the addition of TCU, it is even more important for the SEC to have a team of Dallas.

Before TCU, when the Big 12 had no teams in Dallas, it would have been reasonable for the SEC to expect an equal share of the Dallas-Fort Worth market with that of the Big 12. None of the Big 12's Texas schools actually played in the area, but still generated local interest. In this sense, it was similar to a shared, neutral territory.

Now, having added TCU, the Big 12 is taking a more active approach. Certainly, TCU does not have the fan base of A&M, but through its location, the Big 12 has made a clear offensive maneuver. In order to counteract this addition, it would not be unreasonable for the SEC to plant a flag of its own.

This board is quickly turning into Aggies.com where every thread is about how much they hate UT. When do we get to talk about the upcoming game against UCF?
