Bowl Projections-Week 6

Postby Stallion » Sun Oct 09, 2011 4:57 pm

If Ohio St drops to the Ticket City Bowl I'm in-standing at 3-3-as long as its not Northwestern (2-3)it could be a decent game

I've said it before I would love to see us play an aq school, I'd prefere a mediocre SEC team in the liberty bowl but I could live with beating Penn state or OSU, Beating these type of teams is how you build some national credibility.

It would be great to beat an SEC team on our way to the SEC!!! :)

Serious question. Does it matter what anyone else thinks if June Jones says we are going back to Hawaii?

Not sure June Jones has that much say in the matter (unless our AD follows his ... request)

SMU is going to go exactly where CUSA sends us just like last year. CUSA has a 3 year contract with the TicketCity Bowl at 2.2 Million a year.

If we win the CUSA Championship I think we should go Liberty Bowl. If we are bowl eligible and not champions all bets are off. As much as I would want the Ticket City or even the Armed Forces, it was obvious last year the kids were not happy staying home for a bowl game. Hawaii would be a nice trip. Just one I could not attend.

Hawaii bowl is boring unless we are playing Notre Dame. I don't want to see us play a weak WAC team

Playing Penn State in the ticketcity.com would be cool. Sort of a rematch of the 1982 cotton bowl

Yeah, but other than that, it would be cool... :)

I don't want the Hawaii Bowl. I know it would be the only game on TV that day, but I don't want to watch the Ponies play a bowl game on TV — I want to BE there, and I can't afford to take the family to Hawaii at Christmas time, especially when we'll only have a couple of weeks to get tickets. Keep it on the mainland, and we'll drive almost anywhere.

Funny how fans look down on other schools...especially SMU. Now they are complaining about what bowl they may go to! And they still have that inferiority complex of wanting to play a "big-time" program who is having an off year. You are proving the case for the havs and have nots. Playing a good Utah State or Hawaii team in the Hawaii Bowl at 8-3 is better than playing a 6-6 Penn State or Ohio State. Teams were so excited to beat UT but it wasn't that big a deal as it turns out, same this year. You are making the argument that bigger is better and fan following should determine conference and bowls, not quality of team.

We need at least 3 more wins to get a decent CUSA bowl. We need at least 5 more conference wins to play for the championship (and the one loss can't be to Houston). We need at least 7 more regular season wins to pick any bowl we are eligible to play in.

We win the conference, we go to the Liberty Bowl.

And to get attention, we have to beat the big boys regardless of their records. Beating TCU put us on the map (recent Big Boy). Beating non AQ teams doesn’t advance our national exposure as much as beating a Big X+II or SEC team.
