McD will get the pep talk, I doubt whether Line will. UCF has only one direction to go in their statistics and that is down. I think we will see McD rise up and have his best game 65% and 300 yards. The emergence of the real defense destruction capability of the Run and Shoot. Three passing touchdowns and Line get's another one hundred yards. 33-13 SMU.. Rollin......

well, here's all it would take: find the open receiver and throw it to them. As we've been told..and see, time after time, there's always someone open. Find them and throw them the damn ball. And when he does, dont overthrow them.

Would really love to see the D step up and get some big turnovers. Place their defense in trouble all game long. Pressure has a way of wearing down defenses.

I replayed the TCU game and there were I believe 3, maybe 4, plays that we had receivers with very good separation and we missed them with the pass. That is a step up form not seeing them at all. Now missing a receiver happens, but imagine if we can just start hitting one or two of those a game. Then we will have the offensive production we want.

Let's hope he keeps improving each game. He hasn't played much over the last two years, so he should start settling in. Having a senior line sure helps. This is a very big game for him and for SMU.

Just off the top of my head, there were two long passes with the ball right on and they were dropped. Granted one was well covered and it was a freshman receiver and he was well covered and it would have been a hell of a catch. The other was just not reeled in all the way and dropped.
So let's hope for improvement on both sides of the ball.
This will be a tough tough game.

Hopefully JJ McD will have a good week of reps and practice after healing during the bye week.

We have done a lot of focusing on our O vs. UCF D but our D vs. UCF O may be more telling.

Thompson could have had a very huge day. First he dropped about a 30 yarder and second he had yards of separation on one overthrown pass which quite likely would have gone for 88 yard TD.

This is so true. UCF's O has been terrible, I would be really surprised if they can move the ball on us. Godfrey has struggled especially in crunch time.

but the filp side is their D is great. We will get TCU ish pressure - maybe more - and UCF's CB's and LB's are better.
i have a ton of faith in our O line - but they will get a very good test and some constant blitzing

In the category of too much time on my hands, I added up and averaged the four offensive rankings (rushing, passing, total, and scoring) of each of our opponents.
UCF's opponents averaged 92.3 (D-)
SMU's opponents averaged 64.35 (C)
That might explain some of their defensive stats.

I think the key to the success of the passing game is if the team is "operating on all receivers".
The level of play we expect and dream of is tied directly to now having four to five much more confident Receivers and all active targets and not one star. I feel a high level of performance coming on, the excitement of the system really showing us what we want.
