. . .that make me grateful that our President is R. Gerald Turner. This lady sounds like an idiot. Tried to play power politics and got slapped down.
http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/con ... -are-wrongI know that there are those on this board who have issues with Turner. I've stated before that I think those opinions are misguided. Irrespective of that, however, I think we can all agree that Turner is a professional when it comes to PR and media relations. He doesn't get himself into public pickles like this. Plus, I get the impression that both Turner and Orsini are highly respected by their peers. Between the two of them, I am very comfortable with the leadership at SMU as all of this unfolds.

"It's really, really wrong, and I haven't done anything to hurt anybody." Sounds like a five year old saying they didn't punch their brother.

There are two types of funding. Funding generated by advantageous conference alignment and funding from the state pockets. Looks like the USF president is getting a refresher course on which funding is the more important to the old Chemistry department. Politics do play a role even when football is king.

These inquiries by state officials are a lot like what we saw here when state senators asked Dodds and the UT president if he blocked SMU from joining Big 12. Or not, not.

She must have gone to the same seminar as the Tech guy.
USF: "We aren't blocking UCF. We're just saying that we should not add any more schools from Florida."
Tech: "Nobody vandalised the buses with paint and manure. It was shoe polish and stink bait."

Didn't we block UNT from C-USA?

No, we pushed LaTech over them as we had been a conference with LaTech. They like to believe we did, but we had no pull with our new conference.
