Tulsa's Lack of Sportsmanship

Postby Statler » Tue Oct 11, 2011 10:49 pm

Received word that Tulsa is not allowing the Mustang Band to perform at halftime of the tu vs SMU game on 10/29. The Mustang Band director offered to go as low as 4 minutes to do a drill and the Spirit Songs (which is under half of a normal haltime show), but the "golden hurricane" folks said, "no."

It should be noted that each time tu's wannabe Madison Scout Band came to Dallas, it was allowed to march at halftime.

yes, but when it is our homecoming our band shortens our halftime to allow the other band to play.

In fact Tulane is making their first band trip (other than LSU) in about forty years. M Band is cutting some of its time to allow them to perform.

Alex said that the fans there made some slurs towards our players.

Last time I went to a game in Tulsa (Bennett Years) the fans were surprisingly Tech-like.

I went to Tulsa games several times and never had any issues. It would be hard to imagine their fans causing trouble then cause there were so few. I am sure that has changed since Tulsa has started winning.

If it is their homecoming, then I don't hold it against them to hog their halftime show. For all we know it is the highlight of Tulsa. Let them enjoy it the way they want to. Our job is to win.
