future schedules

Does anyone know who some of our future non-conference opponents are? There's a rumor that we're scheduled to play Baylor High again at some point -- is that true? Anyone know who else we get in the next few years?

Seems to me we should be competitive with Baylor High. In the recent past, they always ran us over, simply because they were enormous and we ... weren't. But they don't seem to have much talent now, and nobody can tell if Kevin Steele can coach or not. They still seem to corner the market every February on 6-6, 340-pound linemen and get their fair share of athletes, but fortunately, they feel obligated to lend a bunch of them out to junior colleges.

You would be correct. i think it's great that a school like North Carolina is going to be a future OOC opponent. There's a few other suprises in the bag as well.

Kevin Steele couldn't coach a fat man to fried food. Just ask Kevin Greene, who choked him in the middle of a Carolina Panthers game before Tom Stanton (which should tell you something) inexplicably lured him to Baylor, or John Robinson, who hugged him after Steele tried to run up the score on UNLV with the lead, the ball, seven seconds remaining and the Rebels out of timeouts. Baylor of course lost.

I'm not saying Kevin Steele is in a class of useless coaches by himself; but it doesn't take long to call the roll.

Is there not a place to check future schedules? I can check AGGIE schedules out 3-4 years. They're at least tentatively set.

Unfortunately, we are a little bit behind the stature of the Aggie Football program. They probably have a little easier time of scheduling than we do at this point. Or, to be more blunt, people aren't lining up to play us in football, or basketball. That's kind of a good thing in some ways. We can actually win some of those games against tough opponents; they have nothing to gain by playing us. However, that's probably alot more true of basketball than football right now.

SMU00, since you asked, I checked - the Ponies play Baylor Sept. 13, 2003.

By then, the Bears should be on their fifth different coach in 10 years. SMU should be in that soon-to-come conference of Hawaii, Houston, UTEP, Tulsa, Troy State, Southwest Texas and Nevada.

Should be quite a battle.

Thanks for the info, Chris. The conference alignments were especially informative. Let's see...2003...I guess you & Lee will be hosting ESPN Sports Classics by then.

Graypony, I'm hoping Lee will get stomped like a narc at a biker rally before then; but yes, look for us on ESPN6.
