I'm just starting to look around the country, and was wondering what the expectations are for SMU this season?

Realistically, what kind of record are we talking about? And how does that meet with how the program is progressing?

Realistically, I'm hoping for 7-5. But I fear 6-6 or even 5-7 might be more realistic. I remain optimistic -- sometimes to a fault, it seems -- but I worry that a lot of our talent (and there is a lot there) is still young, and therefore may be behind the opposition in terms of development. It's easy to say "we're a year or two away," but when the class of Briggs, Cunningham, Freeman, etc., are seniors, this team will be really stout.

I'll go 6-6.

That is 8-4, but I would not be surprised to see a 6-6 or 7-5. I know nothing about Nevada, but I think Hawaii will win and I think we will beat Tulane after last years massacre.

Hoping and praying for better, but I was on the nose for the last two seasons records:

2000: 5-7

I really hope I'm wrong.

Not trying to be a pesimest(sp) or anything, but here is how I see our season turning out...I just think we are two young. I don't think it has that much to do with the coaching, but more with the drastic changes this program has made and needing time before we can reak those benefits..

Kansas....I think we might pull of a win...There just might be something magical about this stadium
UTEP...win
NC State....at NC State....I think we will lose this one
Tulane..After being spanked two years in a row, I don't think we will win this one, although some revenge would sure be sweet.
U OF h...WIN
UHAWAII...They have a really good team this year...Another loss
San Jose--win, if the lights stay on...oh yeah, it is at Ford, THEY WILL
Nevada...They suck, this is an "easy" win, if there is such a thing
Rice....We have their number
Tulsa...They are not gonna be that good, another win
Fresno....Win
TCU...loss

Which, I believe, leaves us at 8-4..Wait a minute, that does not sound so bad after all......Even if we do lose to Kansas, which is the game I am unsure of, that will still leave us in position to go to a bowl

10-2. Only losses will be to N.C. State and (this hurts) TCU. Huge year for Cavan and his boys - you read it here first.
