Chase SchavrdaGreat Daily Campus story by Chase on the PonyFans.com homepage. Thanks for the insight.
Re: Chase SchavrdaWho knew Chase knew how to write?
Re: Chase SchavrdaI got the chance to meet Chase once, and he was very polite and articulate when speaking to my kids.
Is he an English major? Does anyone know what his plans are after he graduates?
Re: Chase SchavrdaNo, he is not an English Major. He is a Public Relations major. He wants to get into Real Estate, or something of that nature. And yes, he is a great guy.
Re: Chase SchavrdaChase is a terrific writer! And we'll miss him on the field
Re: Chase SchavrdaChase is a great guy and an even better football player, but his article was a bit miss leading. The weight program that the football coaches designed was not the best for the players. Also, Jost was not a strength and fitness coach. His programs were designed for strength, power, and speed. I have personaly heard most of the football players say if the program they were on in the off-season is used in the summer, many players will not show up to train. The program is designed for body builders not athletes.
Re: Chase SchavrdaTex, that's interesting stuff. How is it different for body builders vs. athletes? How is the program different? Can you offer us any insight?

Re: Chase SchavrdaA body building program builds muscle mass, but it doesn't provide a high degree of strength gains. The Football lifting program under Giles and Baker (smu football coaches responsible for the program) uses high volume and low intensity which allows the body to build or recruite slow twitch muscle fibers. An athlete needs to build or recruite fast twitch muscle fibers to have high strength gains or improve his 40yd time. Body building just puts to much stress on the body, and if an athlete does not get enough recovery time between his training program and spring drills ( around a month) then he is more likely to get injured
sorry about my spelling in a hurry
