Reading the DCTF, I learned that Tech has not won a Conference Championship since 1976! That's worse than us.

They tied for one the last year of the swc with rice and about 4 other schools then went to cotton bowl and got pounded by usc

It was 1994 when Texas Tech, Texas, Rice, Baylor and TCU shared the conference championship with 4-3 conference records. 5-6 Rice beat Texas 19-17 to end a 28 year losing streak. TCU beat Texas Tech 24-17 to keep Texas Tech from being the lone conference champ.

I'm not worried about Texas Tech.

I remember when I was a freshman in high school when in our health class SMU football was a main topic before we started our health lessons.
Coach asked the class questions like, "How do y'all think Smoo will do this year?" And "Will Smoo win the Southwest Conference this year?".
SMU went 10-2.

That's not true. They tied for one in the 90s (5-way) with a 6-5 record and they got to play in the Cotton Bowl (and got destroyed I think by USC).

Tech may not have won a title, but they are still 32-16 against SMU all-time in our games against them and they are 14-0 against us since the death penalty. Series was pretty even up until the Death/Pye Penalties kicked in.

And I think it was 2008, they were tied for division champs. They've had plenty of very good seasons

Well, we were Division Champs under JJ. I'm just saying they don't do well in conference play.

Texas Tech has won 8 games or more in 10 out of the last 11 seasons and has only 1 losing season in the last 20 years almost all in a BCS Conference

And their conference record since 2009 is 9 - 17, I believe. Sounds like they beat up on a lot of mediocre teams...like us!

bottom line is that this is the reason a lot of our former SWC mates like to schedule us. At least we have an opportunity to make them regret it

The bottom line is we NEED a victory over Texas Tech. Fact - they should win. Fact - we are the underdog. Fact - we could win. Thus my prediction - SMU will win by more than 1. :?

Huge game for the momentum of our program and season.

Anyone have a link to the Tech boards to see what they are saying?

Google is your friend...or bing. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Our new Jones/Mumme offense will be so revolutionary that it will be able to score half points and we win 42.5 to 42.
