SMU on TV in 2013Ok, so here is what I am seeing for our TV broadcasts this year:
Opener v. Tech - ESPN Home v. Montana St. - ESPN 3 (wtf?) Away v. TAMU - Not on TV (why not?) Away v. TCU - Not on TV (why not?) Home v. Rutgers - Not on TV (Family Weekend) Away v. Memphis - Not on TV Home v. Temple - Not on TV (Homecoming) Away v. Cincinnati - Not on TV (why not?) Home v. UConn - Not on TV Away v. South Florida - Not on TV Away v. Houston - ABC / ESPN Home v. UCF - Not on TV Can we expect to have more than just 2 games on ESPN? I am hardly counting the Montana St. as one... I really don't know why that would get the broadcast...
Re: SMU on TV in 2013
They usually announce the TV schedule week to week except for the first few games of the season and any games on weeknights (like Houston). I imagine our entire schedule will be on some form of television with the ESPN deal the new conference has, except for the Temple game perhaps.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013So it truly is a major upgrade in a television contract?
Re: SMU on TV in 2013
New tv deal starts next season I think.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013
I don't know the exact details but if it's anything like the deal the ACC has with ESPN I'd think all the games would at the very least be on ESPN3. There's no way our games against Rutgers, TCU, and A&M aren't televised at all. To be fair it doesn't take much to improve on the awful television coverage of C-USA games. That TWC channel the UTEP game was on last year was an absolute joke.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013New TV deal kicks in next year for Football, this year for Hoops.
PlanoPony is correct about games, most TV games will be announced within 10 days of the actual game. Some people simply forget just how bad it was...
Re: SMU on TV in 20132014 is when all the exposure is supposed to take place.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013we are very fortunate to open the season with a national game...now if we can only avoid laying another egg!
if this team exceeds expectations, more of those mid and late season games will find their way onto the schedule
Re: SMU on TV in 2013are we really going to have less televised games than last year? This seems like the fewest number in several years.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013Will any of our games be televised on that new Fox sports 1 channel? It looks pretty snazzy from the ads that they are showing in the all star game.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013I know for the Big 12 secondary contract (with regard to TCU) they don't announce starting times or networks until about 12 days before the game. Not sure about SEC for A&M. Home teams control TV

Re: SMU on TV in 2013
Except for Ark-LSU and Ole Miss-Miss State, both on Thanksgiving Weekend, no SEC TV games have been announced after Sept. 14, SMU-aTm is listed as TBD.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013I thought I read somewhere that every game would be televised, but that kickoff times wouldn't be announced for most games until a couple of weeks out from game day.
Re: SMU on TV in 2013
Big 12 media partners don't have to announce non-Thursday kickoffs for games in weeks 4-15 until either 12 or 6 days beforehand. So we probably won't know the kickoff time until Sunday, Sept. 22. And the quality of the network and time will be based on SMU and TCU's records, relative to the other games on ESPN and FOX networks. They also have to fill their necessary Big 12 allotments. I think this game will get decent coverage for several reasons:
It's a light week in college football. This sums up the "major" games: Cal/Oregon (Pac !2 Net), Iowa/Minn (ABC), OU/Notre Dame (NBC), Wisconsin/tOSU (ABC), FSB/BC (TBD), Wake/Clemson (TBD), UVA/Pitt (TBD), Miami/USF (TBD), S. Car/UCF (TBD), OSU/WVU (TBD), Miss/Bama (TBD), A&M/Arky (TBD), UF/UK (TBD), UGA/LSU (TBD), USC/ASU (TBD), Zona/Wash (TBD), Stanford/Wash St (TBD) ESPN will carry lots of games under the SEC contract, but they have ESPN, 2, U, and ABC, plus CBS gets first dibs PAC has lots of decent games, but FOX has its broadcast network, FS1, and the PAC 12 Network to fill up So, I think we wind up on an ESPN network or FOX Sports 1. Now, if we lose to Tech and A&M and TCU loses to LSU and Tech, we'll both be 1-2, and probably subjected to the Fox Sports Southwest Plus ether. But I see SMU at 1-2 or 2-1 and TCU at 2-1 or 3-0. If we knock off Tech and look halfway respectable against A&M and if TCU knocks off LSU and Tech, this could be a primetime game on ESPN, ESPN2, or FOX Sports 1. FYI: this is a great site for game times---it shows everything scheduled and if you click "show non-televised games" it will show you what hasn't been slated yet and all the possible channels. I keep it bookmarked: http://mattsarzsports.com/Season/Conten ... otball2013
Re: SMU on TV in 2013I find this site to be better for keeping up with what all will be on TV.
http://www.lsufootball.net/tvschedule.htm Plus, the times are listed in CST which is nice for us here in Texas.
