PonyFans.com went out to watch the Mustangs go through one of their optional summer workouts, only to realize that the Ponies were going through some seven-on-seven drills against a group of players from Midwestern State. Without the benefit of a professional photographer, here are some photos of some of the players — including many of the new faces on the team — as they get ready for the 2013 season. Nice photos! Sanders looks HUGE. Gaines looks really strong, too. Looks like a lot of guys want to be QBs.

I thought the same thing about Sanders. Burcham looks a lot bigger, too.
Go PONIES!

The shirts actually say Mustang Mana. I assume that is something from Hawaii.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Mana is a word in several Austronesian languages which means 'power'.[1] The concept is especially important in Polynesian cultures, and is a major part of contemporary Pacific Islander culture. And there you go.

Why? Because no college quarterbacks are lanky? Burcham is listed at 6-3 and 207.
By comparison, Johnny Manziel is listed at 6-1, 210. Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater (who some say is the best QB in the country) is 6-3, 196. Georgia's Aaron Murray is 6-1, 208. Texas Tech's Michael Brewer is 6-1, 183.
QBs don't have to be huge to succeed, especially in college.

I think he was referring to his face. He looks young. By the way, Davis Webb (early enrollee) has done so well that he is pushing Brewer to start.
