Just throwing this out as another measure for comparing how we're recruiting against our competition. Following is a quick count of Texas All-Stars chosen to participate in this game by a board of Texas High School Coaches. I disregarded all the kids going to Jr. Colleges, lower Div. schools, etc.

SMU: 5
TTech: 3
UNT:3
A&M: 2
TCU: 2
Rice: 2
Houston: 1
OK St.: 1
UT: 1

WR Keith Ratley and RB Luis Lopez were impressive as well. And both those guys are uncommitted.

It doesn't have a thing to do with relative recruiting prowess. It has everything to do with schools refusing to allow their key recruits to participate especially if they have a shot to get on the field in 2013. Its been trending that way for the last few years. I think the Big 12 teams now just allow 1-2 recruits not likely to play in 2013 so they can still say theyu are supportijng the THSCA

For example both Aggies are walk-ons, 1 Tech player was a walkon and 1 TCU player was a walkon-probably more

True, I spoke with a coach when a couple of our recruits were in that game a few years back and he said that June doesn't mind. But I am like you on this in that an injury could mess up a very good player.

By the way, here is the report in the FW Star Telegram.

And the Aggie player got hurt in the game. I believe it was an ankle injury.

Let's see, those coaches are saying they don't want the kids to play in this game because they may get hurt. I would say those odds are so very small compared to pre-season practice getting hit by much bigger Juniors and Senior in college, and then of course there's the whole football season. SMU has lost many more players in pre-season than in All-Star games, I would venture to bet. Just look at last year with our defensive backs. It doesn't make for good logic to deny them the thrill of playing in an All-Star game.

Plus the team won't be doing any hitting until the Tech game......
