Danny Thomas SMU 1961-63 who twice led the NCAA in punting with an average of 46.5 yards per punt for his last two seasons.

Dave Sherer, a transfer to SMU, was the NCAA leader as a junior in 1957 and also played end. That was in the single platoon days. Ranks 99th on the NFL list although he only played two years.

John Blackburn from the early 70s. Only problem was he was so good that he out-kicked his coverage and despite impressive kicks a lot of them were run back for long gains.
