More evidence Tech will sell out...

"Due to increased demand for tickets to the SMU-Texas Tech football game on Friday, Aug. 30, SMU Athletics will distribute tickets to SMU Faculty & Staff in advance of the game. Faculty & Staff members with a valid SMU ID may receive up to two (2) complimentary tickets. These tickets must be picked up at the main Athletics Ticket Office at Ford Stadium between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday, August 19, through Thursday, August 22, or between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, August 23. If you would like to purchase additional tickets, you may do so when you are picking up your complimentary tickets. Reserved seats are subject to availability. In the event that all reserved seats are allocated, standing room only tickets will be issued."

It's nice that SMU is still offering a couple free (endzone) tickets to faculty and staff. That should account for 500-1000 tickets and push the game closer to a sellout by the end of next week. All other games require faculty/staff to come to Gate 6 with an ID to pick up the tickets.

This game would have already sold out if SMU had released all the tickets they are hiding from Tech fans. The endzones have basically sold out all released seats (singles may remain) and lately SMU is releasing blocks of sideline seats that obviously (based on their location) are being reserved for late season ticket buyers.

Maximizing SMU support versus just trying to sell anything you can for your biggest game of the year. Smart move.

I support this. They need SMU fans. Especially with a whiteout (another reason that was a TERRIBLE idea). Give the ticket folks every chance to sell to homers

I know what you guys are saying but tell you what. In the long run I want SMU fans to be worrled as hell they are not going to get to see the Tech, A&M, TCU and Baylor games-which are the only ones many care about-unless they purchase a season ticket package early. I want the limited demand of Ford to increase demand for the SMU product. I want to sell a 7 game package not tickets to 1 game. There will probably be more Tech fans than SMU fans and the only way you can stop that is with long term season tickets sales. As long as SMU fans can snag late tickets they will wait for the weather report on game day. I think it actually might be healthy for some of those gans to be reminded that a season ticket package needs to be ordered early

couldn't agree more. this is how the big boys do it, and something that SMU fans should want for our program. if you truly want to be BCS/P5/D4 (whatever you want to call it) - this is how it starts. high demand = buying tickets early or securing season tix.

The real deal is to have demand for a few games rather than just one or two. SMU fans have the resources to wait and buy tickets from stubhub, or the ticket office, at the last minute for a "must see" experience. With demand for a few games, a season ticket discount, friends that also go into the games from the Boulevard, you'll pony up for a whole season's worth.

At UH, ticket sales rose dramatically with ranked teams and noteworthy players, like Keenum. With a poor 2012 season and games in Reliant, season ticket sales are just 9K so far, down from a final count of 12K last year. When you win the Rose Bowl and join the Big 12, of course, you're going to sell out your season tickets. SMU has invested heavily in its coaching staff and facilities and hopefully the team keeps improving and gets a national ranking.

Interesting. How will CK try to spin that?

having Tech on the home schedule has already helped with season ticket sales as I'm sure some Tech people have probably purchased SMU season tickets to make sure they get a good seat. Only question is what they will do with those seats for the rest of the season

A few might sell for peanuts on StubHub, the rest are likely to go unused.

That means they are having trouble selling them, not the other way around

It's been said numerous times that we're actually near 15k is season ticket sales and that the 9k was inaccurate and posted by a troll. Don't run around spreading false info, back up your facts first. If you need the ticket office number or to talk to one of the insiders then let someone know.

How many season tickets does SMU have sold?
