Worse Weather GameMy worse weather game as a SMU fan had to be the 1983 Cotton Bowl, sleet and very cold. What was your worse weather game?

Re: Worse Weather GameWorst weather game (I attended): Cotton Bowl vs. Georgia
Re: Worse Weather GameAt least the 1983 Cotton Bowl ran a normal schedule. I have had nothing worsed than the Houston game a few years ago that lasted about 10 hours. I was late getting to the game due to weather delays on my flight. Sat through a miserable game until it was halted for the weather. Stood in a crowded concourse for what seemed to be an eternity and then had to leave in the 3rd quarter for my return flight which was then delayed and had to sit for hours at the airport. And we got beat soundly by a freshman QB.

1967? I recall the weather being very good. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Worse Weather GameGotta go with the Houston game 3 seasons back. The rain and the delay were bad but not near as bad as watching UH pull some drunken kid out of the student section 30 minutes before the game to play QB and he ended up with over 200 Heisman votes on just that game alone.
Re: Worse Weather Game
That's why we have to worry about Techs QB...... Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Worse Weather GameIronically perhaps, the 1983 Cotton Bowl was before my time as a member of the SMU family. But I've certainly heard the weather stories from that day. I think the final score of that game is a pretty good indicator of the weather.
For my personal experience, I too would probably go with the UH game from a few years ago. Standing in the concourse holding my 3 year old son in a sea of people for what seemed like 4 hours was very unpleasant. Honorable mention has to go to last year's TCU game. It was like we were playing in Malasyia in a monsoon. A god awful fan experience.
Re: Worse Weather GameI was traveling from Houston to Dallas that day and didn't go to the game because my flight was during the game. I actually listened to the UH broadcast as I was driving to the airport. Imagine my surprise to when I arrived at my hotel in Dallas that night and the game was still going on!
Toughest for me was the 2008 game at Navy. A cold, steady rain that soaked everyone by the first quarter and didn't stop until after the game was over.
Re: Worse Weather GameTCU last year was pretty bad. At TCU June's second year wasn't fun. Cal St Northridge seems like it was pretty bad. None of them were worst weather overall at games I've been to
Re: Worse Weather GameI was at the Navy game in 2008 as well, mercy.
Re: Worse Weather Game
I was at that game and recall it being fine. A cool November day for sure, but it was sunny at the Cotton Bowl.
Re: Worse Weather Game1983 Sun Bowl - SMU v. Bama. 28F at kick off with winds near 35 mph! I had layers of clothes on and still shivered! It was Christmas Eve, so we filled ourselves with a bit of festive cheer to stay warm. I was only 20 years old, those were the days!
Re: Worse Weather Game
I only go to a few games a year, but I was at that Navy game and the UH delayed game. I have horrible luck. Navy weather in Annapolis was so bad , my parents left early in the second. My wife left at halftime, and I stayed to watch Navy whoop up on us WITHOUT EVER EVEN ATTEMPTING A PASS!! Brought my wife to the UH homecoming weekend, and game was delayed so long, we went back to the Hotel Palomar. Came back hours later and watched UH whoop up on us with a backup QB. Was able to watch from front row, because so few folks stayed. It was not fun - although we bumped into Jack Ingram at the hotel.
Re: Worse Weather GameI remember Cal State Northridge was a beautiful day at the Cotton Bowl. If that was the worst weather game you have ever attended, then that must be the only game you ever attended.
Re: Worse Weather GameNavy 2008. Misery.
