Hobart's archrival in football is Union College in Schenectady, New York. Other team rivalries include Rensselaer (football, basketball); Rochester (football); Elmira and Manhattanville (hockey); Cornell (one of the oldest in lacrosse), Syracuse and Georgetown (lacrosse); and Colgate University (crew).

Is William Smith College included as an add-on?

One of the best Lacrosse programs in the nation at any level and a national power at DIII. Had a cousin that was an All- American there a few years back, and another played football. They have won a bunch of National Championships in Lacrosse over the years. Nice campus also.

They won 10 National Championships in a row at the D3 level during 80s. When I was a kid, all lacrosse players in NY wanted to go to either Syracuse or Hobart. Back then, the top 10 of Division I schools were clearly better than everyone else. After that, the top 5 in Division III schools were next. Until recently Division II lacrosse was nothing to speak about. Right now, even though they have fewer scholarships, DII teams seem to have a lot more other financial aid for players.

Still better than SMU according to recruits, football fans, the general public and almost the entire world.

If history repeats itself, Gilbert will be on the bench by midseason.

As a citizen of "the rest of the world" I can tell you UH is a nothing school globally. SMU is internationally renowned.

You are the biggest joke on this site. Did you see the Forbes' rankings for ole Cougar High? You've gone from mildly amusing to pathetic with your absurdly ignorant comments.

No one wants to go to a commuter school wedged into one of the worst neighborhoods in Houston. You must be mighty proud of ole UH!

What kind of school would have a song with words like this: "We never worry, CAUSE WE GOT THE STUFF!" What a laugh! You need to start worrying Cougar Queen, because stuff is coming out of your stuffed kitty...

GG and Traylon Shead are going to rip your little commuter college apart. See you there Cougar Queen.

"When the going get so rough and tough..." the kitty starts to purr....

Then why do we have more international students than almost every school in the country? We're the 2nd most diverse school in America.

Your jimmies are quite rustled there. How are we a commuter school when we have more students living on campus (8,000 as of right now going up to 10,000) than not only about 80% of SMU's enrollment but more than every school in Texas save for A&M?

Worst neighborhood in Houston? That's quite a stretch there, this bigotry that seems to be common amongst SMU folk has already been addressed. Just because the Historic Third Ward is a predominantly black neighborhood, doesn't necessarily make it dangerous. Are there some rough patches? Of course but to say it's dangerous is fairly subtle attempt at race baiting.

Will somebody justify these recent occurings?

http://parkcitiesblog.dallasnews.com/20 ... lurs.html/

Excerpt:

Southern Methodist University police are investigating after a student reported that a group of men sprayed him with water guns, threw a rock at him and yelled racial slurs Sunday night, officials say.

The assault case is being investigated as a hate crime, University spokesman Kent Best said. Police do not know the identities of the men and do not know if they are affiliated with SMU, he said.

The student, who is Asian, told police that 4 or 5 men in a black SUV assaulted him and shouted at him as he walked through a campus parking lot around 10 pm on Sunday

Elmazi acknowledges that on-campus minority groups have experienced attacks in the past. The wooden Peruna decorated by the Association of Black Students and College Hispanic American Students was vandalized days before Homecoming last year. “

SMU is becoming more diverse, but such incidents continue reoccurring.

Said students got so fed up, they protested on campus about the racial attacks.

And let us not revert back to the [deleted] incident but it also shows that Smoo is still Smoo.

Shall I bring up the t-shirt fans from the Pony Express days.....

Yawn. We had to spot you 9 turnovers and still kept the game close until JJ decided to run the ball. Either O'Korn, Piland or Ward will be under center for us and will have no problem shredding your secondary like we do every year. (It's been a very long time since you guys have held us under 34 points).

Rather yell something original than have "she'll be coming 'round the mountain" for a fight song.

Everywhere has its jerks but the data points to the third ward having lots of crime.

http://www.chron.com/business/real-esta ... 476367.php

The quickest thing someone with poor evidence can do is to attack the person who is actually presenting good evidence. It's called Argumentum ad Hominem. For example, if I say X number of crimes happen yearly in the thrid ward and you point out that Y < X crimes happen in University Park, that does not invalidate third wards crimes. I don't know anyone else's intentions but I'm not race baiting, I'm putting forth data.

And it's "She'll be loaded with Peruna when she comes." Screw prohibition, right?
