Why would any internal investigation be made public? Only at SMU would people try to embarrass an athletic program and it athletes. SMU is a private university with no obligation to say anything. When A&M is in the top ten, just remember the difference in style and teamwork. Their chancellor publically supports Johnny Football and our administration tries to embarrass our coaches and players.

All this is, is the University showing it has institutional oversight and control. We are willing to look into anything that could have the slightest hint of impropriety no matter how ridiculous it may seem.

Think about this when people start rumbling about Mudiay choosing us and saying we must be cheating. The school can legitimately say they have looked into the event and determined nothing was improper. If we are willing to look at attendance at a concert we are looking at everything.

I believe this investigation, which of course is not going to turn up anything, is one of either the best things that come have come at this time or the slickest move by an athletic department ever as a preemptive strike.

This is such a non story. Internal "investigation" for bookkeeping purposes only, as couchem said. Who cares. Shouldn't have been reported in the first place.

Deion's kid called his dad who told the media. Please explain how SMU people are to blame for it going public.

The administration has been jumpy on these things because of the DP. Nothing is going to really come out of this though.

Even as a band member I got a pamphlet once about appropriate contact with the athletes.

26 years is a long time to be "jumpy". Barry Switzer was pretty open about the double wide his OU boosters provided his star running back in 1983. His comments and the picture of the trailer were part of the 30 for 30 on Marcus Dupree. "Well Mrs. Dupree, what will make you happy?"

I don't have a problem with it if SMU didn't make the information public first.

But, no one else will move beyond the DP if we don't do so ourselves.

Great "journalism"

Looks like the DMN is after SMU again
