?? Outrage from Jones ??

While I don't want the whining tirade that Fatterson went on last year, why have I not heard any comments from Jones on the officiating, specifically the "holding" call on Prescott that was the turning point in the game. Instead I hear how our players just weren't able to make the plays that he called...

He gets fined from the league if he comments on official. But along with the players not making plays there were also some coaching that was not that good. It was a group effort and not just on the players.

because officiating wasn't the reason SMU lost-get over it. Some of you blame 80% of SMU losses on officiating. You are wearing Red/Blue Blinders

Stallion, just admit that the officiating was horrible and that holding call was outrageous rather than taking a shot at our fans to make you feel better about yourself. Yes it wasn't the difference in the game but it was horribly bad.

Yes. I wear red/blue blinders as I would hope 80% of our fans would as well.

My argument isn't that call is what lost the game, but it was the turning point in the game. Much like the call in Baylor last year at the goal line, our team cannot seem to recover from situations like this and I have seen nothing from our coach t try and correct that.

Wearing blinders of any color, I can't see how anyone could rationalize that call as being correct.

Texas Tech was a better team then I thought they would be and the best team in the field last night. However, the officiating was poor. If I was coach Jones I would make a request (if coaches still can do so) asking that these officials not be allowed to call anymore SMU games.

Why would you have thought differently unless you are just blinded by optimism? Tech's recruiting classes have been leaps and bounds above ours. That recruiting thing is kinda the name of the game.

Actually, on the post game, June did comment on the call as diplomatically as possible and still make the point that SMU got hosed.

Lack of depth killed us. By the 4th Quarter, no gas left in the tank. Guys were cramping up despite IV's before game and at halftime. Also Mason better learn how to defend the bubble screen or we'll see that all season long.

Because I didn't expect their freshman qb to destroy our defense the way he did. I knew they would be bigger and stronger. I saw our offense play BETTER then I expected. But, I was very disappointed that a freshman 'nobody' could destroy our defense. This was a total reverse over last year when I was very disappointed over our offense and please with our defense. You call it blinders, I don't remember anyone on this board including you saying this freshman was the next Johnny Football.

I thought Jones appropriately pointed out it was a bad call, but was quick to point out that we made mistakes and should have made some plays to get us the lead when the game was close.

I don't want our team to blame the refs. We have several drives in the middle part of the game to take the lead and take control, and we didn't. That is what we should be more concerned with.

nothing you can do to change a bad call, but I agree that didn't dictate the outcome of this game. Our team just wasn't tough enough mentally to overcome that TD coming off the board.

Not too tough to complete passes when your D only has 3 rushers who were stopped at the line by a better O line. We seldom blitzed and put pressure on the QB. Bottom line is that we were totally out schemed and coached on both sides of the line.

Which is par for the course in Kliff v. Mason. That guy has hung at least 37 on us the last 4 years with 4 different QBs (3 freshman).
