If you're going to rip the coaching staff for this one:

Why not rip some of the coaches on the D side of the ball that allowed a walk on to throw 5 TDs?

I get it that Jones is the HC and needs to shoulder the blame, but it was not the offense that was not prepared for this one. Not sure why everyone is ripping Hal (other than the fact that the Red Zone offense should improve and the FGs should turn into TDs, SMU had their way with the Tech D putting together a lot of long sustained drives).

Kliff's Offense had their way with our Defense in the same manor that Kliff had his way with our Defense when he was the QB at Tech.

The offense scored 16 before garbage time, that reeks of unpreparedness. And you're right Mason's defense definitely looked gassed at times and didn't bring as much pressure as they should have. Tackling started to slip in the 4th and the game got away from them.

Actually - the offense scored 23 and had a third quarter lead, when we had 7 points taken away from us.
And that was about the same time that Tech started running the exact same play over and over and over again for 8-10 yards at a pop.

We only scored 16 while the game was actually in doubt (3 FGs, 1 TD), and we never had a 3rd quarter lead. The offense was a bunch of empty yardage and RZ ineptitude.

It's so ridiculous when people say stuff like this. Penalties are part of the game.

The defense was by far the most disappointing part of the team for me. That in no way absolves June, since as you noted he is in charge of the whole thing and should get a fair share of the blame/credit for the defense's performance good or bad, but I agree that mason deserves some criticism for giving up so many points to a team led by a true freshman.

It was not a matter of a bunch of three and outs leading to the defense getting worn out,SMU held the ball more than tech, so unlike last year it is hard for me to say the defense was somewhat hurt by the offense putting them in a bad position over and over.

My point is that we actually did execute in the red zone with a nice TD on that drive. In fact - it was a pretty nice play be GG - same goes for the other TD that he ran in. I liked what I I saw on both of those drives and I will give some credit to the O for how they executed there.

Sure - penalties are part of the game, but I am not going to rip the offense for not executing on this particular drive.

Unprepared June team in week 1? You have got to be kidding me!
