As I said in an earlier post it normally takes about 3 or 4 games for JJ's teams to get rolling. A winning streak will start soon.

Yep, we'll have a 2 game winning streak in late October (Memphis, Temple). It will be our longest of the season. Go Ponies!

The D needs to play like it did the fourth quarter. IF so, we win at least 5 more games. The O has to improve in the red zone. Special teams are not solid and need to improve.

I hate this win but we did make a come from behind (by as much as 17 points) win.

The final scoring drive was what winning teams do. The last couple of stops by the D are what winning teams do.

We never gave up.

I'm glad we got the win and got a chance to prove some late game character. It is something to build on. But the bottom line is we need to make vast improvements on both sides of the ball.

You need to put down the crack pipe if you think we are OK. Worst O-Line in recent memory.

Put down the crack pipe cause you already forgot last years' O line at the beginning of the season.
We have a lot of areas of concern to be sure. And O line is one of them. But they are better at this point in the season than last years' at this time in the season.

Guys - we are terrible.

Hopefully our AAC competition is terrible to.
If we win 6 games it will be a miracle.

Last year our O line didn't even get to the backers on run plays early in the season. By that, I mean attacking backers two yards off the line of scrimmage. They were getting plugged on the line of scrimmage by backers early in the season last year. They missed blitzes all the time early.

They are getting to backers this year. And we complain about GG taking too much time. Last year he didn't have any time. Now he takes too much time. The reason he takes too much time is because the blocking is better. Which is better, too much time to hold the ball or getting slaughtered before getting a chance to throw the ball?

I agree this line has a lot to work on. They are not solid on run blocking especially in the Red Zone. Pass blocking is OK unless there is a blitz. Then they don't always pick up assignments. A lot of the sacks have come on blown assignments when we just let a guy come free.

Last year the O line went from poor to pretty solid over the course of the season. I hope the same happens this year. One area of concern was Line was a flawless pass blocker and really helped the O line out. We don't have that this year.

Hey Ponyte-

I saw Mrydel on the boulevard. Always good to see him.

Montana State D-Line was very undersized and penetrated very well on us. Gilbert played great.

I had a death in the family (my mother's sister) so couldn't make it. Wish I had cause I bet the drive home with mrydel would have been a top 2 trip for us. Or at least for me. Had we lost, mrydel would have had extra pressure cause I would have been on suicide alert.

It is also amusing how a 1 point last second victory over Montana State changes the tide from "oh my god we are worse off than with bennett, rick hart and june need to be fired right this second, this is the worst loss in the history of smu" to "hey we are better than last year! here comes our winning streak!"
