How did the refs blow that call?? Nearly cost us ANOTHER game. I thought Docabel was gonna have chest pains. It appears he stepped out of bounds before the strip.

If the glove does not fit you must acquit.
I knew it. Innocent

Yeah, that was disgraceful. But it didn't help cost us the game like the one last week.

Had we not scored on that last drive, you would be singing a different tune

Looks like his foot was out, and besides 2 Montana St. guys were dragging him backwards pulling
at the ball. Forward progress was stopped, and going backwards. Refs should've been blowing
whistles right, and left at least to protect him from being cheap shotted
Was a Big Sky crew part of the deal to get them to come down here

Yeah, but we did so you don't have to hear me warble.

I was in student section. I have no idea why play wasn't blown dead.

Exactly. I thought it did - I SWEAR I heard a whistle blow. They also missed about 2-3 horse collar tackles, which should be an automatic ejection (is it me or are kids tackling by the helmet more and more these days? . . . very dangerous)

I've been watching football all day.
Supposedly, any kind of hit to the head, as well as hitting with the crown of the helmet to a "defenseless" player (aka QB) is supposed to be an automatic 15 yard penalty; with a review to see if it's targetting.
One of their LBs had some 3-4 sacks on GG tonight, and at least 2 that I saw, were with the crown of the helmet AND hitting GG in the head. Yet, no calls.
I saw several horse callers (on both sides), no calls.
How in the world that forced fumble wasn't called dead, I'm not sure. And the foot was clearly out, yet, they didn't call it.
Are the refs getting worse? Or am I getting that anal? Maybe both...

Refs seem to be really awful at Ford on both sides of the ball

Was the play blown dead on one of Gilbert's sacks in the 4th quarter? I swear I heard a whistle and Gilbert/SMU seemed to stop, but MSU kept going and got a sack - and the sack stood.

I saw one ref mark the spot of forward progress. How can they watch that play on replay and stand by their call? Moreover, they gave forward progress the rest of the night to Montana State.
Also, that call on SMU defensive lineman intentionally pulling off the helmet of the offensive lineman was a dumb call. Those of you who have played line know that doing something like that is unproductive. Head slaps, etc. go on all of the time. But, I have never seen that call and to intentionally pull off a helmet just doesn't happen. However, they made some obvious fouls on the heads of our players and were not called.
When I coached I told my players that officials will make bad calls. But, they will not make the difference in a win or a loss. I didn't want my players to feel like they didn't control their destiny in a game. However, this is one of the very few games where the officials played a major factor in the game. And, if it was not for some great determination and performance by the Mustangs the officials would have given the game to Montana State. You have to wonder if they had placed bets in Vegas on the game because lots of people lost money because of the outcome.
