As a league: Can AAC FB improve with steller AAC BB?

So I was thinking about this:

I dont know of another FBS league with top notch basketball that doesnt have FBS football that is well respected. Can the very high quality basketball aspect of our league elevate our football status in the long run?

I think so. But it will need some actual football accomplishments to come with it too.

for reference:

Old Big East - basketball powerhouse - decent football.
ACC - basketball focused - decent football.
Big10 - excells in bball - respected in football.

Big12 - no bueno bball, respected football.
Pac12 - eh bball - good football.
SEC - poor bball - great football.

side note: does the "big east" now fade away in relevance to an a-10 conference level? I think so. They are not in the conversation as much, and I think the AAC is really stealing some of their thunder. The fox move certainly didn't help.

What he meant was, the SEC doesn't have good BBall teams I think. But I could be wrong.

I feel bad for that Kentucky bball program. Those guys just can't catch a break. And what has Florida bball done in the Donovan era? He's stealing money.

June said in a recent interview that all AAC football games will be on TV next year so that should help with recruiting now. The USF football class is very good. Cincinnati has a solid class and even Temple has a 4 star recruit coming into them. The AAC football future is going to be fine imo.

That is what he said but with Kentucky, Florida, Missouri, LSU, Alabama, sometimes Arkansas, etc. I would say they have a very respectable BB conference.

It's a stretch to call a conference that has won 3 of the last 8 basketball championships poor. Oh, and they have the preseason #1 team this year, and the #8 team

if I said SEC basketball is AMAZING - that wouldn't change the point of this thread.

SO does it help or not?

Two years ago, Kentucky. Florida won in 2006 & 2007. Kentucky is preseason #1 and Florida #8. It's foolish to say SEC is not very good.

Honestly, no. The Big East was a garbage football conference that hasn't deserved the auto bid it got for probably 6-7 years (I'm being nice). Outside of West Virginia, no one was very good.

The Big East was the best basketball conference in the country, it clearly didn't help football in the end.

I would love for that to happen, but it just doesn't really work that way.

I sincerely appreciate you providing me that information. I should know better than to assume that Kentucky isn't the best example of how dominate SEC is.Take Kentucky away, the SEC is just as strong, or possibly even stronger.

thanks. gracias. much appreciated.

well, I think BE was comparable with the level of play as the ACC. a couple good teams, the rest basically trash.

But maybe since the AAC has unity in schools' direction, maybe there will be more positive affects.

You asked when was he last time a SEC school won a bball championship?? It's gone now. I guess you erased it. Don't get offended, I was just answering your question.

I did, but realized that it would take the thread away from the central question. Which it did. lame.

Didn't the BE routinely get like half the league into the NCAA Tournament?
