When I was an undergrad student at Bama we never missed a game. That includes when we had to go to Birmingham and play at Legion Field. But, these kids are so spoiled that they leave at halftime or just don't show up at all, sound familiar? Back to back national champs and these kids must be prodded to attend games. It's too bad the letter is so nice. Saban should of had Bo Pelini edit it for him....

I guess I am reading it differently but all I infer is - hey, this is our first home game of the season so come cheer on your team.

Regardless of the opponent you would think the first home game would draw a crowd at Bama.

Pretty coach speck letter. Doesn't address attendance that I can see but address a great supportive atmosphere.

Maybe you need a yell practice too :)
I dont see any mention of students leaving early or the like or this has an underlying message?

Maybe there are secret codes in the letter only Alabama fans can decipher.

Actually, what it's about is the Alabama campus is upside down right now over some unfortunate Greek mishaps (actually sorority) that belong in 1958. Some of the Greeks threatened to boycott the game. They have a tradition of end zone Greek block seating and it has been taken away and opened to all students for Saturday's CSU game to promote unity on campus. Bama is 41% Greek. They are livid.

Saban was likely reminding them of the bigger picture. Most if not all of the kids love Saban.

The "4th quarter" comment is about students leaving early to party. Plus, the university sets aside about 20,000 seats just for students and sadly last year some games only drew 10.000 kids (maybe less).

Alums who are waiting for season tickets want those seats and complain about the students either leaving early or not going at all.

And Saban says he's too damn old to start over!
