Washington State thumped Idaho 42-0 last night in what was yet another pointless NCAA football blowout, but the game in Pullman at least had some postgame fireworks—thanks to the head coaches, who had to be separated.

Cougars head coach Mike Leach put his starters back in near the end of the game when the Vandals threatened to score in an attempt to preserve the shutout; Idaho skipper Paul Petrino presumably said something to Leach about this during the handshake, which prompted Leach to reply with a "fu*k you." That Cougars-Vandals rivalry is getting intense.

No doubt he's an arse, just like Patterson but you know what, they can coach. They have their players prepared and they can recruit. If JJ had left for ASU, I think we could've got the Pirate. We'd see a much more competitive team after two recruiting class out of Leach.

WSU went 3-9 in 2012.
WSU is 3-1 thus far in 2013 under Leach's regime, including a W over USC. Leach is a proven winner in football.

Isn't this literally the EXACT same thing that happened when Phil Bennett was here? Something like TTU wasn't going to win by enough, so Leach threw all his starters in and was desperately trying to pad his lead, which led to fisticuffs at midfield?

In 1976, with a 56-3 lead, late in the fourth quarter when the lowly Mustangs mounted a drive that threatened to get within field goal range, Paul Bryant sent back his 1st team defense to shut the Mustangs down and preserve the 53 point margin of victory.

The only difference is Meyer didn’t say anything about it to Bryant and Bryant didn’t resort to foul language to express his feelings. Both men seem to consider it nothing more than a football game.
