Can we beat TCU?

Honest question- frankly I thought they looked pretty good against a legitimate LSU team but then I saw the SELA game, Pachall got hurt, and the Tech game and I'm thinking they're a lot worse team than they were at AT&T Stadium a few weeks ago.

My fear is that they will run the ball down our throats- Catalon, James, and Boykin may be too much for our undersized, talent-lacking DLine to handle. If I were gameplanning against their offense I'd load up the box with 8 guys every time and force Boykin to beat us through the air, hoping he will make some mistakes which lead to turnovers. He did not look good against Tech and let's hope he has a repeat performance against us this weekend

Offensively, we've got to hope we can establish the run that will in turn setup the pass. Verrett is an excellent corner and I don't think we win by throwing 60 times. Maybe use some zone read stuff to keep their pass rush at bay as well. I think if SMU has a chance to win we're going to have to do it on the ground. Hopefully Shead will be back and ready to go.

Can't have any special teams mistakes and need to win those battles with field position. A big play or two from JaBryce in the return game would be nice.

The zenith of JJ's tenure here was the 2011 TCU game- he can win back a little bit of the goodwill he's lost over the past two seasons with a win over the Frogs, assuming he still gives a [deleted]. 2-2 would be a lot better than 1-3 going into AAC play, obviously.

I think it's all about the run game (us "slowing" there's and ours having a pulse - maybe we'll have Shead back so we'll have 3 capable runners so we should not run out of steam there) and penalties and turnovers. If we can slow their run game, establish ours and be in the plus turnover column with few mistakes, we win (and of course score first).

Of course, that can be said for pretty much every game. :-)

TCU is beatable, but this team has to prove it to me. They will need to match TCU's energy.

We are a 4 win team until they show otherwise. Very sad to write that especially since I'm liking a lot of what I'm seeing on the offensive side of the ball - very very disappointed in our defense (hopefully once Rambo is back, for TCU?, we'll see some improvement).

Sure we can. They're heavily favored, and they deserve to be favored, the line is bigger than I would make it. But they're not invincible. They're not an Alabama or Oregon or Ohio State. We shouldn't beat them, but we can.

I can't wait. How early is everyone going over? Is there a pre-game tailgate anywhere?

They lost to 2 ranked teams and we have lost to 2 ranked teams. We put more points on the board against Tech than they did. We have a good chance and we should have a good chance in the 6th year of a head coach against a middle of the road Big 12 team.

The game against LSU was interesting, but it was also week 1 and both teams were working out kinks. Since then, LSU has progressed and TCU has regressed. If they played again this week, I think LSU would beat the Frogs pretty decisively.

That being said, the Frogs are playing us, not LSU, this week. Can we beat TCU?. . .yes. Will we?. . .the odds are against it. But I am certainly not as intimidated by TCU as I was by A&M. We can hang with these guys and I'm hoping for a good game.

Penalties, penalties, penalties. . . especially false starts and holding. . .have got to stop! If we get that under control, this could be a good one.
