I had heard the band was not coming. Did not hear they were prohibited. May just be they did not want to give up that many seats.

Per DMN:
Part of Texas A&M’s move to the SEC included showing off their hallowed traditions to member schools. As opposing teams’ fans have visited Kyle Field, most have left impressed.

But this weekend when the Aggies make their way to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks, they will be without that chance of exposure. As first reported Wednesday by Texas A&M’s student newspaper, the University of Arkansas will not allow Aggie mascot Reveille or the Texas Aggie band at the football game.

“The absences can be boiled down to the University of Arkansas’ live mascot restrictions and its decision to utilize halftime during its limited home games for in-house recognitions,” Lauren Simcic of The Battalion writes.

“With a limited number of home games on campus, we have limited opportunities to recognize those from the University and former student-athletes, groups et cetera, so we must maximize the opportunities we do have,” Kevin Trainor, associate athletic director for public relations at the University of Arkansas, said.

According to the paper, the A&M band responded immediately after being forced to cancel over 100 hotel rooms but did not see any loss of money in the cancellations.

This is an example of what is wrong with college football. It is the pagentry that distinguishes college ball from the pros.

FYI - Tulsa did the same thing to the Mustang Band.

Isn't that what TV timeouts and quarter changes are for? Smells fishy. I guess they don't need the extra revenue from the tickets and hotel rooms.

Good for the Hogs. I hope they do everything they can to stick it to A&M.

If you recall, the saber incident is because A&M will not allow anyone but their cultists on the field. They do make an exception for the band but Peruna could not run if he was even allowed in the stadium. Could just be a case of turn about is fair play.

However, a local high school has opened its doors to the Aggies for their midnight yellathon. So there is some hospitality being shown.

Don't forget, A&M does allow their homecoming queen on the field to graze

The game and hotels will most likely be sold out anyway...no need to subject the paying fans to a boring military band

Should motivate the Aggie to beat up on the piggies.

This is correct. People from every corner of the State travel to see their hogs and book the rooms early. That then leads to the argument of whether or not they should continue to play any games in Little Rock to ease some of the travel but that is for the UA boards to discuss. I get mad hearing them complain about having to drive 3 hours to the game when every home game for me is 5 hours one way.

They could just let the cadets stay with their girlfriends in the sheep pen.
