Sadly,

It is possible.

You field a team that could not probably beat a top 5A team in the state of Texas, yet you can beat 5 crappier teams, go 6-6 and go to a bowl.

GO PONIES!

I don't see us beating Rutgers, UCF or UH on the road. I want to see more from Memphis before I definitely call that a road win. We will lose at least 1 we should win. I still like my preseason 5-7 but geez I admit I never knew just how bad the AAC would be

I am willing to bet we don't win 5 games this year. We have yet to see "shutdown JJ", but we are about to.

I will say we go 3-9, with 4-8 a possibility if someone lays down for us.

yeah but Temple, UCONN and USF are exceptionally bad teams. Memphis I'm giving a break after their win last week

Good point,

but so are we, if one or more of those rise up and actually want to challenge us, we may very well fold.

Your 5-7 looks pretty solid, but I see us losing a very embarrassing game or two.

Ill go with 4-8 and we can circle back round and discuss it over basketball.

Always remember geldings law - what can go wrong with SMU football will.

We got one win on a very improbable come back. The team hasn't not played well on the road in JJ's tenure. So counting any road game as a win is not a safe bet regardless of who they are playing. I believe a bowl game is out of the question this season. I don't know how much pain we are going to go through before this season ends.

I really don't like this feeling - like I am quitting on the players. :( :( :( :( :(

UConn had Michigan beaten and lost in the last minute.

I only see 4 possible wins on there=no bowl. They would really have to get their act together to beat any of others

Now that it is conference play I think you will see the coaches take it to another level.

UCONN lost to Buffalo something like 41-12 and had 220 yards Total Offense-I like our chances at home. They are 0-4 and Pasquiloni might be first coach fired

I don't know. 5 wins is possible. Six wins is possible, if we can do something, anything, about the penalities. Overall, we seemed to be kicking them in the groin in the first half, but for the idiotic penalties that kept them in the game. This team could have (obviously they didn't but they could have) beaten tech and I think the could have squeaked a win today, but we are just blowing ourselves out of games with dumb mistakes and then we seem to just give up and go through the motions. If we keep fighting we're hanging with decent mid-level BCS teams. There seems to be no fire, passion or killer instinct. Can we hang with the rest of the schedule? I think every game from here on out is winnable, but we are going to find ways to lose and that needs to be fixed.

I know that there is a talent gap, but we've all seen far less talented SMU teams than this. I felt watching tech and tcu that if we played with some emotion we may have upset one of those teams- they were more talented but they were within striking distance. Instead, we make a few bonehead plays and then we fold. That is more maddening than the days when we'd play our butts off and still get trounced.

And I thought our passing game was supposed to stretch the field towards the end zone? This sideline to sideline dink-and-dunk is okay to spread the defense, but I thought the idea was to get into the funny-colored grass at the ends of the field.

Okay, post game rant ended.
