A perspective on this Season

So what have we seen so far?

Frosh walk-on QB scores 5 TDs against us, special teams play abysmal, D2a team physically pushes us around on our home field before we score a late TD to win by 1, terrible WR play, stupid mistakes, penalties and more penalties, embarrass ourselves in College Station (fortunately Sumlin didn't run up the score), allow 31 4th quarter points to a mediocre TCU team, uninspired play, non-stop posts of firing JJ, multiple threads regarding attendance predictions, long-time fans talk of not going to future home games this season or until JJ is gone. The list goes on and on; I think any reasonable person would consider this season so far to be a failure.

Sagarin now has us ranked #98, below Eastern Washington, William & Mary, Sam Houston State, Villanova, McNeese State and 5 other D2a schools.

But let me put some perspective on this. JJ is 32-37 lifetime at SMU. The AVERAGE ranking of a team SMU has defeated during this time is #108. That means for all your criticisms of our team this year, JJ's typical victory is over a team somewhat WORSE than this team.

That my friends, is how you back into 4 bowls.

Very well put, hopefully your perspective has changed some of the sunshiners perspectives of JJ. I'm tempted to bring a fire JJ or else poster at the game. Every year it's sloppy football and we only get to a bowl because of the ridiculous landscape of too many bowls and that important fact that we beat people on average worst than us... Our only real notable win was against a disorganized tcu game that almost got it in the 4th quarter.... And also they are long time rival... We should be able to trade blows with them and never be blown out...

Ok, I admit. I'm a sunshiner. I'm, by nature, a very optimistic person. I see every "challenge" as an opportunity. I support this school with my money and my mouth and my behavior. IF we had blown out Montana St and hung tough with TCU (and didn't just give up against TTU), I'd be debating with all of you right now. I've always been a JJ defender because I was scared to death that when he leaves (and if it's seen as a force out), we'd become an even worse laughingstock than we already are and then go back to even worse coaches.

HOWEVER, I'm over all that now. I don't even blame JJ anymore. I blame our AD and the administration. Get your [deleted] together boys. Don't cheat, but put out all the stops legally that you can right now. HigherEd is a BUSINESS. This is a BUSINESS decision. Let's get this thing done. Start talking to Chad Morris's agent, the OC at Baylor, anyone else and be BOLD about it. Raise the money. Do what you have to do. Time's up.

oh geez-blame the AD and the administration-the last retreat of the June Jones cheerleaders, Get this Turner and Hart have nothing to do with June Jones' arrogant and lazy refusal to actually do his job. Turner would have been very happy if he got what he bargained for-but June jones did not perform an essential part of his job-Recruiting. Ridiculous. I'm trying to give some of you the benefit of the doubt because you don't have all the information we have but I'm sorry June Jones never earned his paycheck

He did analyze a lot of videotapes in his office that recruits sent him...that's how we stole Bo-Levi out from under the nose of Texas and A&M.

Hey, at least we'd probably be in the FCS Top-25!

NDSU, EWU, and Montana would probably manhandle us at this point.

I'm not a June Jones cheerleader. He's not the kind of coach I'd personally hire. He seems more of a personal promoter than someone interested in selling our program. Always has to me. But, since the AD and the administration make the hiring and firing decisions (I'm assuming) with the Board of Trustees and the CoC, then I would say that keeping him would fall on their shoulders. Point I was trying to make.

wish we could hear from someone in the know.. like someone in the CoC. it would be absurd if they didn't share the same views as us on this board. we need them to make it happen. I agree, the money men and leadership need to be bold and make a move NOW. show the public that we don't accept mediocrity and go out and get a name. Hart better be putting a shortlist of candidates together and be in contact with the COC. hell, go out and get lane kiffin.. hes a name, he's young, and hell be hungry to prove his naysayers wrong, and most importantly hell put a premium on recruiting. imagine kiffin and staff recruiting texas hard.. we'd become relevant with kiffin-type recruiting

The title of the thread should be a perspective on this preseason (or preconference). :D

Remember you don't show your full hand in preseason.
