SMU vs TCU game should serve as a wake up call

I expect the Mustangs to blow Rutgers out of the water.

I feel SMU is in the same spot TCU was in before playing us...they lost to LSU (SEC) and lost to Texas Tech (Big 12). TCU felt the pressure and after the half crushed SMU without mercy, showing the nation that they are still a viable program.

SMU lost to Texas A&M (SEC) and lost to Texas Tech (Big 12) and TCU (Big 12)
Rutgers will be the unfortunate overconfident squad that will feel the wrath and they will know next time they play us to FEAR THE CHARGE!

I predict SMU will blow out Rutgers 48-10...mostly on second half play

i think the dogs would get called off if that actually happened. AW or L here changes our entire season (or could change it I mean).

2-3(1-0) vs 1-4 (0-1)

gotta get this W.

But I don't think we will.

The first step in SMU becoming a winning program is to believe in winning. Losing is a disease like Gary Patterson said before our game...

We can believe all we want to, but it won't affect the outcome of this game. I believed we could beat TT and TCU, but we failed to get near that. I believed we WOULD beat Montana, and we very almost didn't.

unfortunately, whether i believe we win or lose has ZERO effect on the outcome.

and given the play I have seen on the field this year, I've lowered my expectations. Again, I hope to be proven wrong - I am flying in from NC to watch this one in person.

I've seen nothing from this team to suggest we are capable of blowing out a decent D1A opponent. We are inconsistent at best and downright awful at worst on offense. We have been below average on defense as well. Rutgers will be coming in here fully expecting to win.

Okay, I like the optimism and I'd also like to point out that the Mustangs had a chance to win that TCU game. But beating SMU does not demonstrate TCU is still a viable program. What happened was Patterson climbed down his players' throats for their sleepy, sloppy first half play and those Frogs came out ready to kick [deleted] or get their asses kicked. Tiki head needs to get stroke-poppin' furious at the mustangs this week to wake some of these cats up before the season slips completely away.

Don't hold your breath waiting on "Tiki Head" to do that. Not even close to his style.

It is obvious that it does not change the outcome...but it's a good first step...along with showing up to the games. We can't expect to become a P5 school without the fan support and if we believe we deserve to be less than that...
