Who is on the CoC?

Those are the 20 or so people whose opinions really matter. Do they want to keep stroking an annual check to June?

Who are they?

Gerald Ford? Sewell? One of the Hunts?

Probably all of the people you named are part of it.

In full disclosure, I stole this list a posting from from Samurai Stang. All seem very reasonable and many are actually part of current steering committee members. That's 11 of 20.

1. Don Donally
2. Richard Collins
3. Gerald Ford
4. Paul Loyd
5. Carl Sewell
6. Richard Ware
7. Brad Brookshire
8. Gary Crum
9. Randall Goss
10. Daniel Hunt
11. Clark Hunt

If that is the list then I know a few of them and they have nothing but SMU as their prime objective. I feel better knowing some of these boosters are in a decision making position.

Question is, would they be willing to pay June $2 million to go away in 2014 while paying a comparable amount for a new coach and top-notch assistants?

If I were C of C I would have a hard time writing many more checks. Not because Jones hasn't performed (I am one of those who actually thhought that going to 4 bowls in a row was unthinkable in my lifetime), but because of our deplorable fan support. IMO, a humble one, I felt that our highwater mark since the DP was when we beat TCU at Fort Worth a couple of years ago and then beat UCF, the defending CUSA champ, by a very impressive margin the next week. Ford was pratically empty on that beautiful autumn day, and I think that the players and recruits were a little surprised at how little anyone cared about the team. Under these circumstances, I'd find it hard to dole out the kind of change that the C of C came up with to lure Jones here ever again.

So you are advocating that we drop down to D-III or cancel the fball program. No mon- no fun.

That is why you have to win more that 6 or7 regular season games as well as reach out into the community and be more visible as a head coach. We only have about 6000 undergraduates so we can't blame the students for not filling up a 32,000 seat stadium. Obviously you are a hard core JJ supporter trying to deflect the blame to the fans. TCU was in the same situation back in the late 90's as Reedfrawg pointed out. But they had some seasons with more than 6 or 7 wins and it drew more fans. June himself said that we have a lost generation out there so it will take a major season not just one decent win to bring that generation back. That along with being highly visible in the community.

Yet jj has done nothing to connect with the community other than asking for donations to his charity.

Don't get me wrong I know he has an urban ministry but he just needs to be more visible as well.

Patterson is not that visible in Fort Worth. Good thing too, odious chap.
