I liked the announcers. Talked about SMU being a very good school, with a beautiful campus, with a beautiful stadium, just minutes from downtown Dallas and in the middle of very nice neighborhoods.

Some good pub.
Just send 'da money.

Halftime high school kids spelling. "SMU" generated authentic applause.

The music was awesome, although why did they play Springsteen and Bon Jovi with Rutgers in town? I would have blackballed those choices.

They did shoehorn the inevitable "Don't Stop Believin'" in at the perfect time though. We really should scream "boulevard" like the Red Wings fan scream "South Detroit".

All 12 of them.

In all seriousness, how many were actually there? The shot I saw showed maybe a dozen scattered in 1 section.

I fully agree with the entire list; especially number 7. Except replace really good with amazing or awesome.

Hat tip to the students that stayed. About half of them migrated tot he south end zone for the overtime and were very loud. When there was a chance of end zone change, they prepared so they could move back. When the end zone wasn't changed they quickly filled the seats again in the south end zone section. They were loud, engaged, and very motivated. And had the smarts to move and prepare to move as if planned.

For once an empty stadium was a plus as it let our fas move where they needed to be.

Reduced penalties. Only one turnover (very costly) and no interceptions.

No quit.

Game presentation was the best I can remember in a long time. Funny moment for me was after the Rutgers fumble recovery in the endzone they played "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell. Couldn't have described my feelings at the moment any better. A little comic relief at a very depressing moment.

For those not familiar the song is about a doomed relationship and giving and giving and not getting anything back:

LYRICS

Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my light
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night

Chorus
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Oh...tainted love
Tainted love

Now I know I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
You don't really want any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight

Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you though you hurt me so
Now I'm going to pack my things and go

Very apropos moment for the game at that point.
