throwing out 2008 June Jones has a 27-27 record against Division 1A competition. 6-10 in last two seasons. Great Coach? Great Recruiting? The consensus nationally is without question he's a very recognized and heralded coach. Then what's missing?

yea- and if we throw out all of his games after his first season he is 1-11. Coaches are judged by their complete record not just selective years.

Who says he's great? Maybe great as a division II coach where you don't have to recruit. Take a gander at his recruiting list and you have to be thinking well that as a sinking ship. So what is he missing, this, this effort to go out to get the best candidates to play football and then try to coach them up but all that requires effort and charisma which he greatly lacks. His football calls are entirely new issue, it's either he sucks at it or he has given up but running dump off passes and always going horizontal screams laziness or stupidity.

Based on the news, many top level recruits have baggage that I doubt Turner would accept. SMU seems to like the squeaky clean player. I doubt many top level recruits are squeaky clean. That criteria has to impact recruiting. I wonder what SMU would have done with Johnny Football. Would he have even have made it past his freshman bar incident? Would he be playing today if he was at SMU? I doubt it.

We can get any kid into SMU that any other school can. This is an old argument that does not stand up anymore.

True unless they have criminal record.

I will agree to stand corrected on that at least on specific cases.
