Running Game

I've only seen 1 game in person this season, but have watched all the others on TV.
My observation: Nlemchi has looked better than average, Shead s-so to average, and P. Line not very good at all running or blocking. Am I missing something here, or is that about right?

It appeared that Line was inserted mostly to block during the Rutgers game, but every time I zeroed in on him he seemed to have missed his block and was chasing the d-lineman or linebacker from behind attempting to chip him from the side.

I think we will see Line moved to LB next year.

We should see what Wimbley can do but it won't happen.

^^ Now that you mention that, I'm still a little bummed we never got a really good look at Pope back there. It does appear he has turned into a valuable LB, however.

Pope was fantastic Saturday. He was making plays all over the field. The ESPN announcers were singing his praises too.

If SMU wants to become a 12-0 Program, we need to have an excellent running game as well as a solid defense. Passing game is really important but you need to extend the time you have the ball...SMU was successful when we had the pony express which consisted of running the ball...

The only way that happens is by getting big, strong and talented on the lines with depth. And the only way that happens (you knew it was coming) is recruiting. Nothing will change until we get a staff who's primary focus is recruiting, recruiting 24/7 365 a year. See the bball staff.

Still wish Nlemchi was getting more runs, but I left at halftime so I don't get a vote.

You and me both.

P. Line is a nice enough young man, but he is not Zach, not even close.

I wish they would start KC and see what he does for a couple of games.
KC can run and catch.

BTW....our "yards after catch" mostly seems terrible this year

I also think we should lay off P. Line. He is a True Freshman. He shouldn't be asked to do this yet.
His older brother only had 189 yards his freshman year and he played in all 13 games. P. Line might develop into a great RB here when it is his time. The coaches are not putting him into a position to succeed.

Not sure why they hold Nlemchi back......

Nlemchi not getting carries is inexplicable but a lot of what JJ does is inexiplicable. No YAC whatsoever this year until Rutgers - Jeremy Johnson was possessed & got a lot of YAC. Too bad he's 179 lbs.

you guys are crazy. give shead a chance jesus christ. i dont understand why u guys get so quick to criticize. just like last year, everyone was all over GG and now look at him. Shead will improve and his greater potential than any of the current backs. i like nlemchi, but hes no shead.
