Finally = 2018 to 2022.

How many conferences will we be in between now and then?

I expect SMU will buy out 2 scheduled OCC games next year. That works for me.

Just one, the same one we're in now.

For future reference:

OOC = Out of Conference games (also known as pre-season or "we don't need to give a [Fatterson]" games)
OCC = Our Crappy Conference games (also known as "holy cr@p it's October, maybe we should try to win one or two of these" games)

Hopefully this clarifies things for all involved

Why not just drop down a level - he (casper) admits we aren't competitive with our old SWC mates. I thought that was why jj was brought here- to make us competitive.

Also, IIRC casper said in one of his responses to a ponyfan inquiry that we were indeed competitive. However, this quote in the paper shows that one of those responses was a lie.
i.e. from the DMN.- “In my opinion, our non-conference schedule this year (and last year and, potentially, next year) does not provide our team with the best opportunity for competitive success throughout the course of the season.

A&M will buy out of their game at Ford but I doubt Baylor is going to let us chicken out of another game with them. Even if they did, on short notice all we'd get is a couple of 1-AA teams to fill those slots. Is that what you want?

Take the $$$ from A&M and let them out. Hopefully it's a lot. Replace them with an FCS school that's close by so they'll bring fans too- SHSU, SFA, whoever. Texas State is FBS but they could work too

@ Baylor
FCS
@ North Texas
TCU

Not a bad OOC slate in my opinion

I'd start preparing for or annual local rivalry to be UNT. I doubt very much if TCU has any further interest in playing us.

In a few more years UNT will be too tough for us. We'll need to see if we can help UTA get football going again.

Not according to what their AD said recently:

We bring fans there (although not as many this year), and it's an easy road trip for their fans when it's at Ford. The TCU board did a poll on it and 2/3 of their fans want to keep the series.

They don't want to play 3 world beaters OOC each year and we make sense for them
