• Guard Sam Rice left the Rutgers game with a sprained ligament in his knee. After the game, Rice said he thought it was a minor injury and said he expected to be back in time for the Mustangs' next game at Memphis. He sat out of practice this week, while many of the reps went to young and reserve players, but reiterated Thursday that he expects to play in Memphis.

• The scariest moment of the Rutgers game took place when wide receiver Keenan Holman fell face-first to the Gerald J. Ford Stadium turf. After receiving attention from the team's medical staff, Holman was helped up and went straight to the locker room, emerging with a cervical collar around his neck.

"It was nothing major," Holman said Wednesday, adding that he had no interest in watching a video replay of the play.

The fact that the injury involved his neck made it scarier than a normal sprained ankle or strained hamstring, Holman said.

"I was scared," he said. "I was at first, anyway. When I was able to stand up, then we started to figure out where the pain was. I was able to walk off under my own power, so that helped."

Holman, who has watched his teammates practice this week, said he still has "some stiffness in it, some tightness. You have to be careful with a neck injury, but we have great doctors and great trainers. They're giving me the best possible treatment. I'll be ready to roll next week."
