Can someone explain this to me? I was at the game and still can't figure it out one way or another. The fact that it seemed that it was called by the line judge makes it even harder to figure out.

was listening to it on the radio at the time and rich said that it was due to defensive linemen imitating the snap count. I haven't heard if that was ever verified. Maybe someone else can weigh in?

That is what the official said when making the call. Kind of a rare call because defenses are making calls also, but if you start to make sounds like the opposing QB then you will get called. Could have been going on earlier also and Tuberville might have told the officials to watch for it.

I remember June complaining wildly about a couple years ago against Tulsa, at Tulsa. I think we were called for (another) offensive off sides, and June went ballistic because Tulsa had been barking out signals the entire game. They were never called for it. Shows how often it actually happens and is called.

Doesn't matter, we didn't stop them anyway.

Yes, June used to complain about this happening to us all the time.

June complained about it this year.

They threw the flag on Wright I think. But I am not sure. The coaches weren't happy, but I am not sure if they were mad at the player or the ref.

Yep. Specifically in the A&M game when we had several false start penalties.

Home cooking! Not called at A&M on them, would be called on us on the road.

When you have 90,000 screaming fans it is not as easy for the officials to pick up on a defensive player making sounds to try and draw the offense. At Ford or most any of our conference venues it is much easier to hear what is going on. "ALL OUT"
