Tough road to a bowl

It will be a very tough road to make it to another bowl but this can happen. Win on the road at USF, then the tough one will be winning at Houston. Don't think we like our chances of winning one road game and coming home to a must win vs. UCF.

If we continue to improve and we could win any of the games left on our schedule.

First, we have to win on the road at USF. They beat Cinney earlier at home so they can be tough for us.

I agree it’s a tough road but still possible.

Come one, 777. Major conference schools would think we're more of joke than we already are to suggest that. If we get to six wins it'll mean we've beaten the following schools with their Sagarin rating - Montana St (137), Memphis (82), Temple (122), UConn (160), USF (145) and either UH (38) or UCF (29). That's wins over five terrible teams and one decent. In fact, I'd bet that could be the easiest path to bowl game ever by a school.

Just consider it a discounted, cut rate trip to Hawaii.

Those are the rules. In this case, 6 and 6 gets you to a bowl game.

it doesn't matter who you beat to get into a bowl. the only thing that matters is the number of teams, unless we are talking about the bcs which we no longer are.

I don't disagree if your goal is to just make it to any spare bowl but to suggest we've had a tough road is laughable.

I would very much doubt that. Who has Rice beaten? they are Bowl Eligible. Who has North Texas beaten, they are too? UTSA might make a bowl.

You can only beat the teams in front of you, and, much like last year, we should have taken care of business before now. Rutgers and Cincy should have been Ws, but I'll take 5 straight bowls any way I can. If we can ensure that the last losing regular season we had was 2008, I'll take it.

I was talking about the easiest path of BCS conference school ever, which is what we are this year. Rice, UTSA and NT aren't.

BTW, Rice beat Florida Atlantic (80) and NT beat Ball St (65), both would be the highest ranked opponent we've beaten this year.

Bottom line - if we cannot beat USF on the road and get a W against either UH or UCF, this convo won't matter.

I will take W's against anyone - and if getting to 6 wins and going bowling every year were so easy, every team would do it. But they aren't.

Yes, I want W's against old SWC rivals and relevant teams. But until then, I will take 6 wins or more and a bowl every year. That is how TCU built up their program. And Boise. And Utah. And Louisville. Build momentum upward every year. One can make the argument that we have plateaued, and would tend to agree. But let's get W's - against whoever we schedule.

And I would venture to say we are somewhat better than at the first of the year. However, we need some D and some lucky breaks to get to a bowl, and any bowl at this point is better than none.

Is it any tougher than last year when we had to beat conference champion Tulsa at home in the last game? And then shellacked Fresno State in the Hawaii Bowl,,, a team that is in the BCS bowl hunt this year? College football is great. Who cares about the NFL, especially the Cowboys........except for #11 of course.

just get to 6 wins and get any bowl bid...more practices, more publicity...it's all good

Hey UCF has now had 2 last minute victories on the road against 2 teams SMU beat. Temple and Memphis aren't exactly heavyweights. I'm not going to predict SMU will win but I damn sure am planning to be there to see if we can.
