Yesterday, Temple announced their 2104 schedule (opponents, not dates). Does SMU know its 2014 opponents?

Why would we schedule a series with NORTH TEXAS?! Beating them doesn't do us any favors and they can pull an upset against us which will make us look horrible. I would be OK if it was Stephen F Austin or some other FCS school we can beat around and they bring some fans...but come on...NTSU....

I think it is great. It is a rivalry with a state school which will be better attended than most of our games and they are on their way to becoming respectable. I like away games I can get to easily.

Ok they are close but they can become an upset, making us look bad.

You would prefer to continue to play the large state school mega programs and keep getting our arses handed to us, just so we could possibly pull some sort of upset? If you want to create excitement and build a fan base, you have to schedule competitive games against opponents who will bring fans. We travel well to Denton and they travel well to Dallas.

It is a building block, a winnable game, a good crowd, a good atmosphere and hopefully will bring some local attention to the program.

I love playing SFA, NTSU, TCU and then throw in a Texas Tech, Baylor or possibly Kansas or Kansas State.

It's good for us to play local schools that can bring fans, and a band. Would be nice to keep TCU and Baylor on schedule each year as well. Besides the AAC schedule everything else should be local teams unless we can get a USC, Notre Dame or Stanford to play in Dallas.

We should get on the schedule with schools like us - duke, Vanderbilt, Georgia tech, Virginia. Get some rivalries with real schools. I hate all these junior colleges.

We could play those schools (and get AAC like attendance at Ford) but we'll never have rivalries with them. A rivalry implies that there's actually people on either side that care about the game.
