OT: Great Arkansas car giveaway

Postby mrydel » Mon Dec 02, 2013 9:15 am

Well, Arkansas did not win a conference game so Frank Fletcher of Little Rock is standing by his deal of giving away a new car each month for a year. First give away is 12/27 and will be a new Dodge (not sure the model at this time). He is coupling the give away with "selling" 6 used cars for $1.00 and 3 for $500. He said the next month new car give away there will be a new promotion coupled with it. This guy is going to end up making a mint by giving away cars. He will have thousands of people coming in to register and sales people circling like sharks.

He'll get a lot of good publicity out of this, I bet. I wonder whether he thought he had dodged a bullet when the Arky punt was downed at the LSU 1 and LSU had a true freshman QB at the helm. Congrats to him for sticking to his word. Hope there's no fine print.

So far he requires you to come in and register. Wants the salesmen to have a shot at a sale. Do not need to be present to win the new car however. First give away is a new Jeep Patriot.

That's the way to do it, that and paint "I won this car at Jack Fletcher's!" on the side of the vehicles.

Aren't these kind of deals protected by insurance sometimes? Don't know if this one is but usually these guys know what they are doing.

This was not a planned deal. The dealer just visits and joins in with a local sports talk show group. At the beginning of the season he just casually said he would give away a car a month for a year if Arkansas did not win a conference game. Middle of the year people started reminding him of what he had said. He still felt like they would at least beat Miss. St. I do not think he ever believed it would happen and doubt he insured for it. He will still make money on it.
