The Orlando story came off the AAC teleconference. I had a bunch of deadlines and pushed it to today — when I saw the Sentinel had reported it, I shared the link so that the information was here. As for Gilbert's comments this morning, I was there when he said what Bill Nichols quoted in the DMN blog linked here — again, that got it to you as quickly as possible while I was loading today's video interviews. For what it's worth, Gilbert said the pain is greatly reduced, the swelling is down, and that he has his range of motion back in the knee, and added that he did not know if he would play Saturday. He did say he's doing everything he can to play, and that he badly wants to play, which comes as no surprise to anyone who knows how competitive he is. Whether there is enough rehab time between now and then remains to be seen.

Also, in the video interviews on the home page, head coach June Jones said he didn't know whether Gilbert will play Saturday, saying he wouldn't play if he didn't have the mobility needed to protect himself, and added that if he plays, Gilbert will be wearing a brace on his knee.

For a great guy who has been under much scrutiny since his high school days, it sure would be nice for him to go out with a big win. He has had such a great year, especially since the TCU loss. His best days are ahead, I believe, so no need for him to risk injury. Only the best of wishes for GG

I saw him hobbling around Central Market with his girlfriend on Sunday. Hard to say how bad his knee was because those inflatable braces truly eliminate all movement. Impressive devises. I think he sits. It's the smart move.

I hope he is ready and can play but not at the risk of further injury. Fball is still a game.
