On a lighter note, IF and granted this is a big IF, we could potentially go bowling in some pretty sweet place. I'd be up for spending sometime in the Bahamas

It's frustrating to see we got left behind while the Big 12 took our former enemies TCU and Baylor (schools of lesser value) with them.

The Big 12 took Baylor from the start probably before you even started following SMU football so its not like that should even matter. TCU on the other hand is a different story, but then again if it wasn't for them leaving for the Big 12 we would probably still be in C-USA.

Don't feed the troll you guys..... Tomorrow he'll be saying we're never going to the Big XII and the next day we'll be kings of the SEC and then after that he'll claim we're Alabama and the next day we'll be Sam Houston State. Just ignore him.

Instead of complaining about the conference and the good ole days, why not focus on the opportunities that are in front of us. The new bowl agreement offers plenty of opportunities for us to play in a major bowl if we get our act together. There is no valid reason why we can't dominate this conference and at least be in the hunt every year for one of these bowls (the initial link was a condensed version):

'If the American champion finishes as the highest-ranked team among the champions of Conference USA, the Mountain West Conference, the Mid-American Conference and the Sun Belt Conference, but does not qualify for the College Football Playoff, then it would participate in one of the three Host Bowls that will comprise part of the CFP rotation – the Cotton Bowl, the Chick-fil-A Bowl or the Fiesta Bowl.'

No Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl or Orange Bowl.

Fiesta Bowl would be nice! $20 million payout just for going.

I did not mean for it to come across as complaining. It was more in response to the comments about it being against a MAC team, that it was in a small stadium or being one of the big New Years Day Bowls. I think it does provide some good opportunities. I just do not see any of the power conferences like the SEC, ACC or Pac 12 running to be in a bowl against an AAC team. I like the thought of playing in the Bahamas or somewhere in Florida for our bowl game. It is sure better than having to go somewhere cold.

I also stated 'if we get our act together', most on this board seem to be in agreement on what that means (meaning new coach).
