Medical Hardship Waiver for Gilbert?

I believe Gilbert can come back next year if he wants. He only played two games at Texas in 2011 before having season-ending surgery, so he can apply for a Medical Hardship Waiver and get an extra year of eligibility

We need him

GG has played over 30% of the season so he can't apply for a medical hardship. He should be fine in a few weeks and he has had a very good year. I think he will do well at the NFL combine and get drafted imo.

Read the post. The hardship would not be for THIS season but for 2011 when he played less than 30% of the season.

Let's let him go on a high note and not have him comeback to risk a major injury and lose the draft stock that he has truly earned this year.

I think it should be his choice.

He was already credited with a medical hardship for that season. His eligibility is over.

That is not correct. He has played two years here. One year was his senior season of eligibility and the other year was his extra season of eligibility for graduating from UT prior to transferring.

He's done. He's already a 5th year medical senior right now

You are incorrect. See my post above.

I think he knows that by setting the records he has set this year that he can earn a good living by getting drafted. To much can happen next year. It is always up to the player. GG has done a lot for SMU and there should not be any pressure on him to come back just because fans want him to do so.

He never redshirted and the medical hardship was for this year I believe.

He already used up 2 years of eligibility in 3 seasons at UT.

For sure and it's up to him to seek out good advice to determine what to do. I'm not as high on his draft stock as many on here are. June does not have a good record with sending QBs to the NFL (see Colt Brennan) and Gilbert did not play well in a more pro-style offense at UT (although he has improved infinitely since then)

He got an extra year for graduating from UT. NCAA grants an extra year of eligibility when you graduate and transfer.

medical hardship requires that you miss 2 years due to injury. He's played in 10 games. He's done-even if he wanted to come back
