Garrett Gilbert is an amazing QB. I am sad to see we will not see him again in an SMU jersey. It was a blast watching him play this season, especially his record setting game against Temple. Thanks Garrett and other seniors! You will be missed...

I can see New England drafting him in the late rounds- high football IQ, strong arm, good mobility, really cut down on the turnovers this year.

Why would New England draft him with Ryan Mallett sitting on the bench?

It could have been an uglier season without GG.

I do think that JJ's connections will result in several teams taking a close look at Gilbert

You don't have to have JJ connections for him to get a look by the pros. Just look at his numbers and measurables. He would have had pro scouts called SMU and looking at him with or without JJ connections.

Definitely has the size, arm, and character for the NFL. I will let the expert evaluators go from that point, but I think he warrants a try somewhere.

Hope he has success in the NFL but I would be very surprised if he was on a roster next fall
Practice squad would be best case scenario IMO

I agree. And it's not like that's a bad gig.

Given JJ's history with QB's that have played for him in college, a roster on opening day would be unlikely......see Colt Brennan and Timmy Chang.

I thought Burcham was more than serviceable today. He's got a chance to be a pretty good QB.

Too many delayed hand-offs and east west running. we do not have the O-line for that. Where were the trick plays?

If so, that's play calling, not Burcham. You didn't like what you saw out of the kid?

NB was much improved over his performance at cougar high.
